Individuals


Prayer
Participate in days of prayer and Holy Hours for Vocations.

As a family pray for vocations.

Pray the Rosary and/or recite the Vocation prayer daily for the intention of Vocations.

Education and Discernment
Invite clergy and religious to visit your home and talk about Vocations.

Include specific catechesis on Vocation Awareness and Discernment during your catechetical instruction.

Promoting Vocations Be actively involved in your Parish Vocation Committee.

Directly ask/invite individuals to consider priesthood and consecrated life.

Support those in formation by letters of encouragement.

Schools


Prayer
Encourage the monthly Mass for Vocations in school chapels and Newman Centers.

Plan specific days of prayer and Holy Hours for Vocations in Catholic Schools, Parish Religious Education Programs, and Campus Ministry.

Education and Discernment
Challenge teachers and catechists to provide effective catechesis on the meaning of one's Baptismal call and vocation discernment at all grade levels.

Organize discernment groups.

Develop models of Vocation Days to be used in Catholic Schools.

Plan Vocation Pilgrimmages to seminaries, religious houses, or shrines for students.

Directly ask/invite individuals to consider priesthood and consecrated life.

Prayer
Schedule a monthly parish Mass for Vocations.

Recite a Prayer for Vocations after each Sunday Liturgy.

Include parish rituals for the handing on to families of Vocation Prayer Symbols such as the Serra Club Vocation Cross, Chalice, Statue, etc.

Include a prayer for Vocations during the General Intercessions.

Education and Discernment
Include specific catechesis on Vocation Awareness and Discernment during sacramental preparation classes with parents and students.

Sponsor an annual Parish Vocation Day.

Promoting Vocations
Establish a Vocation Committee as a standing committee on Parish Council.

Provide parishes resources for General Intercessions on Vocations.

Provide a Diocesan Day of Recollection for youth and young adults involved in parish liturgical ministries.

Education and Discernment
Organize Vocation Discernment Retreats.

Create Diocesan materials on Vocation Awareness and Discernment.

Promoting Vocations Enhance the Diocesan Vocations website.

Design an effective Vocation Marketing Campaign.

Schedule seminarians and religious to speak in parishes.

Provide a workshop for Diocesan priests on ways to promote vocations.
