Permanent Diaconate

Permanent deacons are ordained clergy who offer service to the Church in many areas. They preach, serve at Mass, baptize, and witness marriage vows. They also bring Communion to the sick, teach religious education and RCIA, and serve the poor. Most deacons have full-time jobs in addition to their ministry within the Church, though some play administrative roles at the parish and diocesan levels.
