Gerard Land

Education Experience: I earned a BA in Philosophy and Religious Studies at Youngstown State University and a Masters in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University New Orleans

Work Experience: I was Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in North Jackson from September 2014 to August 2016.

Favorite Saint(s):  St. Gerard Majella. While my mother was pregnant with me she prayed for St. Gerard to intercede for a safe pregnancy because he is the patron of expectant mothers. After beginning to discern becoming a priest I discovered a chaplet to St. Gerard that invokes him for assistance as the patron of vocations.

Hobbies/Interests: Photography

Family Background: Most of my immediate family was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and we moved to Austintown when I was 5. My Parents are deceased and I have four brothers, all of them married. I have 11 nephews and nieces

What led you to consider the priesthood?  A few years ago when I felt at peace in my life. This was shortly after I had returned to school.

Favorite thing about Seminary Life: Being around a diverse community that is called to a closer relationship with Christ.

Advice for guys considering Priesthood: do not be afraid of things to come.
